New Generations: Student Showcase

Call for student artworks to be featured at the de Young Museum on April 22, 2011.

TITLE: Where to? The Call of the Times

DESCRIPTION: Our communities are responding in different ways to the current

social issues of our times. The challenges ahead are dynamic and troubling at

times, but we continue to find solutions through activism and art. Where are we

now and where are we going?

What do you see as the urgent social issues of our time? What do these mean

to you? How does your work reflect what is happening now? Public Programs at

the de Young Museum invites you to submit a proposal of visual art, film, music,

or performance art for a Friday Night at the de Young (4/22/11). Members of the

de Young New Generations Student and Faculty Advisory committee will jury the

proposals.

DEADLINE TO APPLY: February 28, 2011

Required Mandatory Orientation: All artists/performers are required to attend

an orientation in March 12, 2011 at the de Young in order to participate in the

Showcase.

HOW TO APPLY:

The application will request the following information:

- Full Name, university/continuing education program

- A one-paragraph proposal of your piece, film, or performance.

- Drawings, collages, digital copies or other visual references and support

material.

- Please read attached materials list regarding limitations on mediums of art due

to museum restrictions.
