BOREN AWARDS - Scholarships and Fellowships for International Study

GENERAL INFORMATION SESSION
with Mr. Chris Powers, Director of the Boren Awards at the Institute of International Education (IIE). Students interested in study abroad and foreign languages are invited to join us and learn about the prestigious international study scholarship program, which awards up to $20,000 for a full academic year for undergraduate study and $30,000 for graduate study.

The AIGA San Francisco student liaisons and board of directors invite students from Northern California design schools to our winter mixer. It’s a great opportunity to meet your fellow design students, the AIGA SF board and our guests. Mix, mingle and learn about our student programs.

Admission is FREE for AIGA student members and students who joinAIGA at the mixer and $7 for student non-members.

All ages are welcome. Snacks, soda and beer will be provided (21 and over with ID), while supplies last!

    AIGA San Francisco 2011 Enrichment Scholarship


    The Enrichment Scholarship was created by AIGA San Francisco to enhance the quality and diversity of design education. Winners will receive a $500 scholarship which may be used to underwrite the cost of their design education or to pay for a supplemental program, such as attending a design conference or participating in a class or workshop. In addition, the work from the scholarship winners will be featured on the AIGA San Francisco website.

    Dare to watch! April 13th Day of Action

    On Wednesday, April 13th (tomorrow) all 23 campuses in the CSU will take action for public higher education and fair contracts.  Faculty, students and staff on the CSU campuses will be joined by other Colleges and University across the nation, in taking action to defend public higher education in the face of sweeping funding cuts and attacks on the rights of employees and students.

    City Chic: ReVamped—A Fashion Event


    A not to be missed Fashion Event hosted by the Fashion Network Association celebrates the creative talents of SF State students in the City Chic: Revamped fashion show. Located in Jack Adams Hall Doors open at 6:30 and the show begins at 7:00. Tickets are $5 with a donation for the SF Food Bank, and $10 with out.     Seek, Student Design Conference, November 20 2010

    Seek, the student design conference hosted by Northern Illinois University in DeKalb Illinois is scheduled for Saturday November 20, 2010.

    So mark the date on your calendar, and let your students know about this.

    Planning is proceeding, and we are introducing workshops for the first time this year. 

    Design firms participating so far include IA Collaborative, Rule29, Digital Kitchen, Lynch2, Grip Design, A5, Brainforest, Three Communications, and The Royal Order of Experience Design. 

    More to come too... We are still confirming our keynotes, but in the past we have had Massimo Vignelli, Paula Scher, Chip Kidd, Kyle Cooper, Rick Valicenti, Jakob Trollback, Andrew Blauvelt, Robynne Raye, and other notable designers.

    This is an all day conference, and the fee is a very affordable $35 which includes lunch.

    Website and online registration will be available no later than October 20th. I will post a message when registration is open.
